A World Première, a co-production with Prairie Theatre Exchange & Tarragon Theatre.
I’m thrilled to be choreographer for PTE’s latest production – “NMVFT” which runs January 24- February 10th. Written by and featuring Daniel MacIvor, he along with Caroline Gillis, Stephanie MacDonald and Andrew Moodie bring this powerful piece to life under the direction of Richard Rose.
Synopsis: In his Cape Breton trailer park home, Dougie is preparing for a visit from his boyhood friend Allen, whom he hasn’t seen in 25 years. Everything starts off great, laughs are had and embarrassing memories shared. But as the evening wears on, shadows from the past emerge and questions resurface about what things appear to be and what they really are; what we remember and what we choose to forget. With themes of family dysfunction, lost love, new passions, and the machinations of small town personal dramas, this play seeks to offer healing for the vulnerable who have suffered injustice at the hands of the powerful.
Reefer Madness, WST’s 1st production of the season was unleashed in December to great critical acclaim. As Co-Director/Choreographer I had the best time creating an outlandish production which fired on all cylinders. Along with my amazing artistic colleagues, Director- Kayla Gordon and Music Dir. – Paul deGurse, Winnipeg audiences were exposed to the “ill -effects” of a very dark but highly satirical musical comedy which showcased our wonderfully talented ALL MANITOBA cast, crew and designers. Watch for our upcoming production of Pippin in March www.winnipegstudiotheatre.com
The 1st Manitoba rights to produce Mamma Mia (community version) were awarded to the Virden Chorale Society under the direction of Michelle Chyzyk. I had the great honour of choreographing this extremely talented group of regional players to bring their “smash hit” to life at their local gem of a theatre – The Aud. These folks are one “Super Trouper” gang of “Dancin’ Queens” (and kings).
A new initiative of Winnipeg StudioTheatre began this fall with the origin of WST StudioWorks Players. This musical theatre troupe is comprised of a dozen highly skilled emerging artists who specialize in musical theatre and the performing arts. We have already created “made to order” events including the Jewish Federation’s Footprints Flash Mob, the Humane Society’s Bow Wow Ball, and Dance Manitoba’s Gala with SMD’s All Abilities Dancers. We’re open for business and look forward to more gigs in 2019.
For over 25 years I’ve had the great opportunity to work in the Manitoba school system as part of MAC’s Artist in the Schools program. This season, I’ve brought my own special brand of musical theatre artistry to A.E. Wright School (Seven Oaks S.D.), Tanner’s Crossing (Minnedosa) and the upcoming George Fitton School (Brandon). It’s a terrific adventure to bring “triple threat” technique to students K-12!
